From the series, “Fuego Fiduciario” or “Fiatfire”, an exploration of hyperinflation in Venezuela, The Liberator (729%) is also the second part of a triptych, one of three photographs of the same slowly burning 10-bolivares note, featuring a portrait of Simon Bolivar, a Venezuelan aristocrat who played a key role in the independence movements in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Panama, and Bolivia. Like many other national heroes featured on paper currency, he has become a symbol of economic decay and hyperinflation. (Interest rates in Venezuela reached as high as 63,000% in 2018).
This is a 1/1 print that does not include a digital representation of the same artwork.
