This functional artwork is an homage to some of my favorite pieces of Bitcoin hardware. The Bitaxe movement is one of the most exciting things in Bitcoin and I wanted to create something lasting to showcase one of these amazing little mining devices. Though challenging to carve, the gothic style text of the Bitaxe logo is perfect for lettering in stone. Hand carved and adorned with 24k gold leaf, this artwork is a lasting, luxurious (maybe too over the top, but what the hell), display for the Bitaxe gamma.
Opendimes are one of my other favorite hardware devices in the Bitcoin ecosystem, and I have included them in many of my previous artworks. Along with the Bitaxe, I think they make great gifts and amazing conversation starters to help people fall down the Bitcoin rabbit hole. I’ve included a niche for an opendime here as part of the display, and if you are so inclined, you could also set the Bitaxe to mine directly to the Opendime’s Bitcoin address.
Part of the reason I think Bitcoin art is so important, is its ability to start conversations about Bitcoin. And it is my hope that this piece ends up in a collection doing just that.
Note this artwork comes with a Bitaxe gamma and power supply and an Opendime. It also has a French cleat system so that it can be hung on a wall if desired, though it can also easily sit comfortably on a shelf leaning against a wall. On the back of the piece is my signature as well as the block height at which it was finished.
Good luck to all the bidders and thank you for supporting Bitcoin and Bitcoin art!
