Scarce City is a marketplace that uses Bitcoin technology to sell Bitcoin goods for Bitcoin.

It was started by Chris Tramount and Aryan Jabbari with the help of honorary founder Chiefmonkey who seeded our artist community and had the original idea for our bitcoin-based Auctions.

We believe that Bitcoin’s finest goods should be sold according to the network’s properties of pseudonymous, borderless, permissionless, trust minimized, and verifiable authenticity and supply.

Bitcoin-based Auctions keep auction participants accountable by collateralizing their bids through instant, anonymous, low fee Lightning and Bitcoin mainchain refundable deposits.

Here's how it works:

1. Deposit a small % of your bid as collateral

2. The winning bidder pays their final bid at auction end. If they don't, they lose their deposit(s) and the next highest bidder has a chance to pay their high bid.

3. Once all event items are paid for, deposits are refunded to the remaining participants.

-Bids placed in the final 5 minutes of the auction reset the countdown to 5 minutes

-Auction can't end with a pending bid

Scarce City Marketplace

We've since expanded our core functionality of bitcoin as collateral to our fixed price marketplace. Marketplace sellers are kept accountable for delivering sold goods through a small refundable bitcoin deposit instead of giving up intrusive personal information or custody of their goods.

Our marketplace currently supports Bitcoin-based digital tokens, such as Rare Pepes and Fake Rares, Ordinal Inscriptions, and physical Bitcoin goods, such as art, prints, apparel, and collectibles
