Inspired by the “Rai Stones of Yap” and the “Bitcoin Spiral Clock” by John Osterman. The bitcoin Spiral Clock is presented with Gemstones.
I combined the idea of the Rai stones of Yap, the first decentralized currency. A 30cm disc of Black Marble is the base for the Bitcoin price spiral. This shows the price action over time. This is placed on top of Brass rods that show clock time. One 4 year cycle = 60 mins. The horizontal axis show price increasing by 10X from $1-$10-$100-$1k-$10k, $100k, $1 million.
A Star Rutile Quartz sits at the center to show the energy of Bitcoin. Emerald Triangles depict highs of each cycle. Ruby Gems show each low. White Gems show mid-cycle highs. All stones are lab-grown.
Lab grown Orange Sapphires on the 12pm axis show the block rewards. Each Octagon is half the area of the previous gem. A round Moonstone gem sits at the apex and represents value until 2140. “To the Moon baby!”
Behind the Moonstone I have engraved 28 blocks, to show the other block halvenings from 2025 to 2140. I added Lapis Lazuli to the back of the Quartz. This gem was sacred in Ancient Egypt. I pierced the Bitcoin symbol out of solid brass and placed it at the center. I hand engraved my signature, the artwork name and the block-height.
