Rare Scrilla is a Bitcoin artist specializing in Bitcoin art and music since 2014. A long time producer and DJ, having produced albums with Benny The Butcher - Pyrex Picasso and Rome Streetz- Genesis 127, songs featuring Killer Mike, Raekwon, Mobb Deep and hundreds more, he started focusing on art more in 2016. Scrilla made the "Sound Money" Bitcoin themed album in 2020 and has released more than a dozen or so Bitcoin- inspired tracks. He was one of the original Rare Pepe Artists and created 30 BTC collectibles in the form of Rare Pepe from 2016-2017. He's released released scores of Bitcoin themed artwork and his work has been featured in Galleries, Museums, print, and more. His newest undertaking has been large glass work that is inspired by his signature drawings using triangles, doodles, bitcoin- acid tabs and Rare Pepes.
The glass work featured here is part of the Mind Altering Money series he started back in 2020 with some of his drawings. They generally feature colorful, psychedelic cartoons made using marker and pen, and expand the idea that Bitcoin is a mind altering form of money, for anyone. The glasswork is made using tempered glass and broken triangles of stained glass, made into a mosaic of a Rare Pepe dropping an LSD tab of bitcoin. There are three editions and they each come with a Bitcoin backed XCP token that can be seen as a COA and proof of ownership. The one featured in this auction is the Halo Piece to celebrate the Bitcoin Rennaisance theme. The piece took 40+ hours to craft and uses clear bonding glue to make sure the pieces last a few lifetimes at least. The artwork is framed in a fashionable and glassy gold frame and can be enjoyed from the front and back, and features high brackets to hang the piece easily in front of your favorite window.
