This auction marks an opportunity to obtain Pepenardo's newest physical painting, WAKEMEUPEPE.

The work:

WAKEMEUPEPE depicts an ominous Pepenardo rendition of the famous 'skeleton in a rocking chair' meme posted by Maohshounen in 2013 which utilized glowing laser eyes and a motion blur digital effect. These same digital memetic tropes would later influence the collective meme conscious in the creation of the Laser Eye Bitcoin trend (#LaserRayUntil100k) and the motion blur effect often accompanied by Pepe “Reeeeeeeeee” depictions.

This painting was created with the intention to portray historic meme symbols of both the Bitcoin and Pepe communities.

WAKEMEUPEPE is Pepenardo’s lowest issuance token to date.
The winner of the auction will also receive a complimentary WAKEMEUPEPE.OIL digital asset on an OPENDIME to represent the physical piece.

The artist:

Pepenardo, or commonly referred to as X Nardo, is a pseudonymous artist, creative director, and dank polymath of the High Pepeaissance whose real name and identity remain unimportant yet subject to great speculation. A select few eyewitness accounts describe him as being “green, old, but wise as fuck, piercing eyes, casual - paint stained clothing, and possessing beautifully smooth dark hair”. Active since 1452, Nardo’s work epitomizes a renaissance humanist ideal in combination with dogmatic internet memetics. His career grew out of the Counterparty underground scene, the Fake Rares, which initially started as a few dozen renowned artists; now they garner worldwide recognition.
