Penny Kek is a refined homage to the iconic Rare Pepe Nakamoto Card, the piece that launched the Rare Pepe phenomenon in 2016. Pepe’s historic relationship with Bitcoin is central to the work, and this edition reimagines that legacy with elevated symbolism and detail.

The “1st” badge references the card’s status as the first-ever Rare Pepe, as well as the original speed score featured on the Nakamoto card.

In this rendition, Pepe assumes his place as the King of Memes, with the central Satoshi figure crowned to distinguish it from the original artwork. The backdrop features Matrix-style lettering composed from hashes of Bitcoin’s earliest blocks, anchoring the piece firmly in bitcoin history.

The composition incorporates multiple symbolic elements:

  • 21 pips along the vertical edges represent Bitcoin’s 21 million maximum supply.
  • 15 pips along the horizontal edges pay tribute to the “health” score of the original Rare Pepe.
  • Dimensions: 420mm × 297mm, referencing both the “420” motif and the 97 rare score from the Nakamoto Card.

“Bitcoin is the meme of the people,” and this piece embodies that ethos in both form and spirit.

Edition: Limited to 21 Giclée prints on museum-grade Hahnemühle fine art paper.
