TGBEX Limited operated between 2014 and 2016 and retailed physical bitcoins (offline cold-storage wallets). It was set-up following the closure of Casascius in the US and was the first physical bitcoin retailer to be licensed and regulated globally (in the Isle of Man).
TGBEX was also the first bitcoin company to have an authorized UK bank account, the first bitcoin company to be listed in a phone directory and was featured on Bloomberg and the BBC.
The coins manufactured are engraved with the public and private keys of a bitcoin wallet (by an automated mechanical process) and come with a certificate of authenticity, signed by 2 people to confirm all other records of the keys have been destroyed. The private key is covered by a secure, specially designed hologram with the public key left visible.
Each coin is individually numbered, with the 20btc coin being auctioned being number 001 (no 001 50btc coin was auctioned on bitcointalk in Oct. 2017 for 0.36btc). It is one of a handful of coins (less than 20) verified by both founders of TGBEX, Adrian Forbes and Richard Owusu.
There were 25 of each of the silver (10btc, 20btc + 50btc) coins minted and no 20btc or 50btc coins were ever sold loaded.
NB The Wallet is UNLOADED and it is not recommended that the coin be loaded with bitcoin given the advancement of secure storage options.
TGBEX physical bitcoins were probably the highest quality physical bitcoin coins ever made and the silver hallmarked (by the Birmingham, UK assay office) coin comes with a handmade luxury presentation box, CoA (with QR code on reverse of the public key) and TGBEX booklet.
