THE CITADEL (v. Nardo) - Signed Print

Numbered Editions: #1 - #21

13x16 inch, Epson Claria Ink on Velvet Cotton Rag Paper, 260 gsm

The work: THE CITADEL (v. Nardo) is an oil painting on canvas, serving as a meditation on wealth, technology, and the shifting architecture of power in the Bitcoin age. Though entirely hand-painted, the work unfolds like a multi-layered digital Photoshop composition — drawing equally from the chaotic allegories of Hieronymus Bosch, the vertical grandeur of Renaissance patronage, and the fragmented aesthetics of meme culture sourced from 4chan and Reddit. At the artwork's core lies a response to the now legendary 2013 Reddit post by the infamous Bitcoin Time Traveler - a mythic message that continues to echo through crypto memetics and culture. This work captures that speculative spirit: part prophecy, part satire, part cautionary tale. The Artist: Mining images from the internet, mass media, and art history to create physical oil painted and digitally manipulated works, Pepenardo (also referred to as Nardo) seeks to define the role of internet memetics within the context of contemporary art. Through classical applications and digital language, his paintings and installations explore themes of appropriation, metaphysics, and folklore.
