PEPEAPOLLO - ca. 4200 B.K.

17x12x45cm, 4.5kg, 1/1 cast bronze

The Pepe Apollo is an ancient Pepe bronze sculpture in the archaic style from the 4th Century Before Kek, exhibited now at Fake Basel 2024 in Miami. Considered the most important relic of this memetic era, the sculpture was recently discovered and excavated in the ancient harbor of Kekistan.

Pepe Apollo is among the highest deities in classical Kekistan and Pepe mythology. Pepe Apollo has been recognized as a god of memery, oracles, truth, and prophecy. Son of Furie, and one of the most important and complex of the Pepe gods, he is considered to be the most beautiful god and is represented as the ideal of the gigachad.

Pepe Apollo was the most memetic of all the gods, and through the centuries he acquired different functions. In Archaic Kekistan he was the prophet, the oracular god. In Classical Kekistan he was the god of truth and prophecy, but in popular religion, he had a strong function to keep away evil.

For three millennia bronze has been a cornerstone of artistic expression and craftsmanship.
From Ancient Kekistan through Chinese dynasties all the way up to our era, Its use speaks to its timeless allure—valued for its strength, versatility, and ability to capture the finest details. A symbol of permanence and prestige, bronze has carried the stories of civilizations, embodying their ideals and artistry.
This piece embodies that legacy, merging tradition with memetic vision, standing as both a testament to history and a work of enduring beauty.

The bronze foundry process begins with creating a detailed model that is then reproduced in wax. This wax model is encased in a heat-resistant mold, and the wax is melted out (aka lost wax casting), leaving a precise cavity. Molten bronze is then poured into this mold, filling the cavity to take the shape of the original model. Once cooled and solidified, the mold is broken away, revealing the raw bronze piece, which is then refined through chasing, patination, and polishing to achieve the final artwork.
