The war is going on in Ukraine. It is humanitarian and human catastrophe. Bombs and missiles destroy institutes of Physics and Technology. Scientists and programmers emigrate or fight against Russian occupants. Academic efforts and the world of previous generations disappears. My lot is a direct proof of Ukrainian culture and science, which has contributed to cybernetics and bitcoin (yes-yes). It is about the synthesis of the first two editions in the world of encyclopedias of cybernetics in Ukrainian in 1973.
"The Encyclopedia of Cybernetics is a Ukrainian language encyclopedia of computer science first published in Kyiv in 1973, with Victor Glushkov serving as its chief editor. The encyclopedia comprises two volumes containing over 1700 articles, primarily on topics in theoretical computer science, systems science, information theory, optimization and control theory. The articles were composed by some 600 scientists from various disciplines, affiliated with 102 educational and industrial institutions located throughout the Soviet Union. In 1974 the encyclopedia was translated into Russian" - Wikipedia.
For understanding: The first International Encyclopedia of Systems and Cybernetics was published in 1997. It is 24 years later!
In total, there are 7,000 known published copies of the encyclopedia in Ukrainian. But the Ukrainian school of cybernetics was repressed by soviet bureaucrats (not encouraged to develop). Therefore, most of the books of the world's first encyclopedia disappeared in public libraries, sold like wastepaper for money earning in the 90’s (inflation), exterminated by KGB in the soviet period and by current war activities. I think that people have no more than 200-400 complete of this lot in private ownership.
The set includes two volumes of the 1973 Encyclopedia of Cybernetics in good condition. And also: a certificate of authenticity, photos of the Ukrainian school of cybernetics with a signature (reproduction). And also my ribbon (washed) from the Ukrainian revolution of Dignity 2013-2014. You can find proof of the authenticity of the ribbon in this photo (it is hard to see here, but it is under the flag).
In my life before the war, I was engaged with the team in the creation of a service on the Lightning Network of game services (you can read it on Reddit). The war ruined the plans. This is something soulful and valuable from my library that I can offer to the Bitcoin community and Scarce City.
20% of the final amount of the lot will definitely go to the essentials for my friends here. They left with one backpack.
