This artwork was created by Matt Habel to commemorate the event in bitcoin history which came to be known as "The Slaying of the Bearwhale." On October 6, 2014, an unnamed investor, the so-called “bitcoin bearwhale”, dumped approximately 30,000 bitcoins onto the open market. Over the course of six hours, the price of BTC stalled at $300 until all of the coins were sold off and the bearwhale was vanquished.
This Special Edition backlit film print was made for the six year anniversary of said event.
This is an authentic print of his original digital artwork. It comes mounted in a black aluminum LED light box frame with a dimmer control.
Materials: Laser-exposed and chemically developed on duratrans backlit film. Aluminum Frame. LED backlighting.
Dimensions: 16 x 20 inches
Weight: 9 lbs
Check out our livestream with Matt as we go behind the art.
