When first viewing this composition your eyes can’t help but be drawn to the giant graphic in the background that seems to be the main topic of the meeting between these characters. Below the infographic we’re presented with an optimistic Pepe. He’s depicted as the confident leader of the meeting but on closer inspection, he’s trying to hide his meeting agenda which turns out to be a magic eye illusion, nothing to do with the meeting at hand. To Pepe’s right is his coffee mug featuring a Crying Jordan sticker, intended to represent the evolution of Pepe as a meme and the progression of humour for the future. To his left, a mobile phone with a highly pixelated version of our first Rare Fake Pepe - Pepe Wizard.
To Pepe’s right we’re introduced to Twitter Egg, represented as Pepe’s elegantly dressed personal assistant (her power suit is the same shade of blue from the NFT). She clutches some classified information about Bitcoin. Another clue that the meeting is a bit of a sham can be seen as she’s handing Pepe a note that reads “HAND ME THIS NOTE IN THE MEETING SO I LOOK IMPORTANT”, something obviously planned by Pepe to help with his feelings of possible inadequacy.
Continuing counter clockwise we can see a very sophisticatedly dressed Satoshi Nakamoto. Appearing unfazed by what’s happening around him, he relaxingly sits smoking a cigarette with a copy of the Bitcoin Genesis Block, a message embedded in the coin base of the first block. Below Satoshi is Sarutobipepe, proudly sitting in front of his pixelated palm level design.
Bottom left features a stereotypical and traditionally dressed Japanese woman, representing the Japanese TV Show Bitgirls, a show that brought bitcoin and digital currencies to the masses. She gazes into the mirror but can see nothing but a reflection of the BTC logo, representing the power and takeover of Bitcoin and the world’s obsession with the newly emerging token.
Bottom right, we see FD Card, amazed by what he’s seeing on his laptop screen. Upon closer inspection it turns out to be Blockplots, the first NFT on the Ethereum blockchain. Above FD Card is a rare CryptoKitty, seemingly infatuated with the Bitgirl at the table. The Kitty sits in front of a page with a huge list of rare CryptoKitties NFT’s.
Above CryptoKitty is the first ever Crypto Punk sold. Confidently and happily seated, he’s the only character without a note in front of him, meant to represent the punk attitude of rebellion. Instead he throws the viewer a peace sign.
Other notable extras are the pile of Etheria in the middle of the table… a possible bribe payment for each character and the note stick to the infographic, TEST, the first XCP Asset.
It’s hard to believe we’ve already experienced a Golden and Silver Emergence Era in the Origin Digital Antiquities Market. The Early Adopters phase we’re currently part of has been a perfect opportunity to look back at some of the brilliant origin assets and pay homage to the creativity and boundaries that have been revolutionized.
The iconic assets playfully displayed in this piece are quickly becoming highly significant and scare digital relics from the NFT emergence period.
Picturing these characters together like this in the same room isn’t actually difficult to believe; there are the lucky few who have some of these side by side in their collections.... having said that, a boardroom meeting being led by Pepe is just the right amount of outrageous that should be celebrated.
The artist promises that the nft will never be sold less than the final auction price.
Special thanks is directed to @WRabbit1111 whose beautiful graph of The Origin Digital Antiques Market v1.4 2014 - 2017 is featured in the art.
